For Your Viewing Pleasure

Following are a couple of links for brilliant TV ads. It’s amazing what people can do when they all get together to work towards a common goal, and when their creativity is fueled by copiou$ amount$ of ca$h.

This ad for the Sony Bravia is the most amazing, and it features “70 000 litres of paint exploding on a disused council block in Glasgow. The ad, created by Fallon, required 1 700 detonators, 455 mortars, 622 bottle bombs, 65 camera positions and a crew of 200 people.” -- Mark Sweney for MediaGuardian.

There are other amazing, colourful commercials for the Bravia made with thread, plasticine bunnies, and bouncy balls. Bravia’s site has a movie on the making of the bunny ad, which is absolutely fascinating.

The Volkswagen Phaeton is advertised by an enchanting hand-made shadow-play.

OK Go is a band that is not too cool to have fun. They have made a video of a dance routine choreographed on a series of treadmills, one with everyone and everything covered in opulent wallpaper, and one of stuff blowing up, which would have been more fun to make than it is to watch. If OK Go ever comes to Vancouver, I will be buying tickets.

Are there any movies that you have seen that make you believe that there is something new under the sun, and wonder still exists?
